Cool Stuff from the Field

  Vegetated Healing Garden
Boise, ID

This 2,500 square foot Vegetated Healing Garden is located on the second floor terrace of the Mulvaney Medical Office Building, a LEED Gold Certified project on the urban campus of Saint Alphonsus Hospital.
The garden features native Boise area grasses, wildflowers, ground covers, and trees; roof skylights, and exterior shading devices on the west, east, and south elevations that provide 13% of modeled energy savings.   This tranquil setting is accessible to all patients and was designed to parlay into The Pebble Project –  an effort by health care organizations to make a documented difference in the quality of care and operating efficiency of health care environments.

Demolition Derby
Boise, ID

This extensive grocery expansion and remodel required the demolition of this existing exterior wall.  The wall was sawcut vertically approximately every 15 to 20 feet and then detached from the existing structure – allowing the track hoe to have a solid grasp on each section.

Into the Wild
Kenai, AK

Construction of a 140,000 square foot home improvement store entailed site clearing of nearly 16 acres of Alaska wilderness.  The crew even had several visits from friendly moose – although rest assured there was plenty of natural habitat remaining in the area for  our forest friends!

Communications Tower
Bend, OR

ESI constructed this 150 ft steel communications tower on the site of the Deschutes County Public Safety Building.  The tower will enhance service to the 911 Dispatch Center as well as Police and Fire units located within the Public Safety Building.  Prior to tower construction,  crews had to ground the entire site by placing rods on the roof of the adjacent building and by running grounding wire along its periphery.

Waste Not Want Not
Laurel, MT

This job entailed a remodel and upgrade to a wastewater treatment plant that was originally built in the 1980’s.  Here a crew member installs Suction and Discharge Ductile Iron Piping in a 26 foot below grade wet well structure.

590,000 Gallon Water Tank
Sierra Vista, AZ

This massive structure has a diameter of 65 feet and a height of 24 feet, holding 590,000 gallons of water; roughly the equivalent of an Olympic size swimming pool!  ESI constructed this water tank in conjunction with a large retail construction project to supply the store with a viable source of water/water pressure in the event of an emergency.

Check out the Blade on this Saw!
Portland, OR

ESI was remodeling a warehouse loading dock headwall in Portland, OR and needed to relocate the loading dock pits for new dock levelers.  The headwalls were 12 to 14 inches thick, so we used this 36 inch saw to get the job done. Notice the rail bolted to the concrete to achieve a perfect cut.
